Graduate Coursework
The ANU offers a number of Graduate Coursework programs in development.
Participatory Development: Master of Applied Anthropology and Development(MAAPD) will provide an understanding of the principal ways in which critical social inquiry and participatory processes can be applied to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development activities.
International and Development Economics: The Master of International Development Economics offers advanced training in applied economics and quantitative methods, providing skills that are an essential part of practical economic research, and it offers a balance between technical and policy-oriented in economics.
Development Policy: The Master in Public Policy: Specialising in Development Policy The Master in Public Policy: Specialising in Development Policy will provide an understanding of the principal ways in which Government policy is developed and implemented in a developing country context. This degree combines the study of the core policy disciplines, and development theories.
Gender and Development: The MAAPD (Gender and Development) will provide an understanding of the principal ways in which a gendered approach to social inquiry and participatory processes, can be applied to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development policy and activities
Conflict and Development: The MAAPD (Conflict and Development) is a specialisation within the MAAPD that aims to give students a critical understanding of the negative role that conflict can play in local development processes. It will enable the graduate to be able to work in conflict situations and be able to assess the role of specific conflict situations in ongoing development work. Indigenous Policy:
Indigenous Policy: The MAAPD (Indigenous Policy) will provide an understanding of the principal ways in which an understanding of indigenous issues and approaches to participatory processes can be applied to the development of indigenous policy and development activities with indigenous communities.
Enviromental Management and Development: The Master of Environmental Management and Development aims to deepen and broadening student knowldege of the social, ecological and economic concepts and paradigms underpinning economic development and environmental conservation decisions.
